Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) is a non-glycosylated protein of 66 kDa. Produced by the liver, BSA is the most abundant protein in plasma. Albumin has a key role for maintaining oncotic pressure, and is the main carrier for low molecular weight compounds such as fatty acids and hormones.
Due to its versatile properties, Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) plays a major role in numerous biological applications such as blood grouping, cell culture or immunoassays (ELISA, RIA,…).
